We went to Scotland last year - Edinburgh. It was about 2 1/2 hours journey by train from York. Edinburgh was a nice city with a bit mountainous landscaped. Scotland is very famous with its scenic highland but we never planned to go to these famous highlands like Inverness or Fort William as they are quite far from our place - about 7 or 8 hours journey from York by car. However, we were actually a bit being influenced by many who have been there; said to have such breathtaking views. So we decided to go. Well...we were there from 8 - 11 July - the highlands; Inverness, Fort William and on our way back we stopped by in Oban.

Commando Monument - You can find this place on the way to Fort William from Inverness

Falls of Foyer is another attraction not so far from Lochness. There's a beautiful waterfall here and the atmosphere is very cooling and serene as it is surrounded by many greeneries mostly pine.

At Nevis Range, Fort William. if the weather permits we could see Ben Nevis - UK highest mountain; from here. we were not so lucky...it was very cloudy and cold (can see from the pics)
Besides, the places mentioned above, we went to Uruquhart castle which situated by one side of Lochness. Other places we'd visited were Glenn Nevis, Glenfinnan, Fort Augustus, Oich Bridge, Appin Castle, Oban and Loch Lommond which always be the host for Scottish Golf Tournament. each of these places has its own uniqueness...recommended to come.
