Rizqin's Birthday - 4th July 2008

I know that i have been quiet for quite a while :-( . Not only because i don't know what to share...but also been quite busy packing things...there some boxes messing about in my sitting room now...not that many though as i have just started packing. Back to the entry....Rizqin's birthday fell on Friday - 4th of July (satu US cuti ;-) ;-) ) I planned to make a small party at school with his friends in class. Unluckily, that very day coincided with his school teacher's training day. I talked to his teacher and she said that we could do it a day earlier... :-( :-( bad luck again, Rizqin was poorly on that day so we had it on monday 7th of July (coincided with our wed anniversary :-D ) Alhamdullillah, everything went smoothly as planned. :-) Enjoy some of the pics...

Yes...I have been a bit quiet lately...the reason is simply because i don't have anything to share here, we haven't been anywhere, just stay put in York :-( ;-) . Another reason maybe because i just can't stay away from my books esp the Kinsella collections :->

Andalusia Pt 6: Cordoba

On the third day of our visit in Granada, we decided to go to Cordoba which took us about 2hrs to reach there by bus. The only place that we went was the Mezquita - was once a great massive mosque back in the 10th century as Cordoba was the largest and most prosperous city of Europe. Sadly however, it is now a cathedral. We managed to capture some of the outstanding features of the mosque.

the arches of the mosque

When i first entered this place, i was so astonished to see these arches and pillars....hundreds of them...(maybe thousands..am not sure)thinking of how people back then built them

the mihrab; a place for the Imam to lead the prayer, has an amazing architectural deco of quranic verses on the walls

La Masqura; doom-like ceiling situated just above the mihrab

Outside the mosque - Torre de Alminar (bukan Torres ehh..liverpool player tu ;-) ;-) ) or also known as The Bell Tower

Patio de los Naranjos or orange tree patio was once the ablutions courtyard

The Roman Bridge - one of the attractions here, not far from Mezquita

Besides Mezquita, the only attraction that we saw was only the Puerta Romano - the Roman Bridge not far from mezquita; as we had a bus to catch. Later on our way to the bus station, only we realized that there was another famous place also just nearby Mezquita - the Alcazar. If you like to see some beautiful pics of Alcazar, do visit my cousin's fp http://fififuad.fotopages.com :-D :-D

Andalucia Pt 5 : Granada City Centre & Albaicin area

On our last day in Granada we went to several spots in the city centre and the Albaicin area - the Arab quarter or Moorish district. It is situated on a hill facing the Alhambra. You can see the whole of Alhambra from San Nicholas (one of the spots in Albaicin area). We walked up to this area from Puerta Elvira on narrow steep cobbled stone streets...fuhh really tiring... ;-) ;-) Further up the hill, you will see the spectacular view of Albaicin, Alhambra and Sierra Nevada...recommended to go.

That's all about it, Granada....really love to come again if there's a chance. Compared to other places that we've been, what i really like being here was about the food. It was so easy to find halal food esp at Plaza Nueva area, only about 20metres from where we stayed....punye la byk halal food kat sini...sampai bole pilih nak makan kat kedai mana...what a peace of mind.
;-) ;-) LOL 'kenyang perut suka hati....' ;-) ;-)

Andalucia Pt 3 - Granada: Generalife Al Hambra

Generalife; also known as "the garden of paradise" , "orchard" or "garden of feast" is situated outside the main residence of the king on the northern part of the Alhambra; was a place to leisure and relax with beautiful garden abundant with various flowers and plants as well as stunning water features. Really nice to visit at this time of the year :-D :-D

Andalucia Pt 2 - Granada: Nasrid Palace Al Hambra

Unlike Alcazaba, the fortress; Nasrid Palace is a palace complex for the king and his family. It also contained administration offices. I was really amazed to see the architechure of the building and the quranic verses as well as poems carved on most parts of the walls and pillars...an absolute phenomenal.

Andalucia Pt 1 - Granada: Al Hambra - Alcazaba

It has been a while since my last entry as i was away in Granada... :-) :-D At last, we managed to be there. Infact, we've been planning to go since last summer...it's like a dream comes true...hehehe... This trip was indeed our last trip to europe before we go back to Msia hopefully this sept and mind u...it was a very 'challenging' one. :-S ...been 'tested' with so many things prior our trip. Both of my kids got chickenpox few weeks back and rizqin had urine infection three days before the trip...really worried us a lot. Believe it or not...the very last day before it, ilyas had tummy bug...pastu kete lak buat hal...timing belt putus...and i was driving at that very moment...really given me a panic-stricken when the car suddenly stopped in the middle of the road.... :-( :-( traumatic tantrum!!! (exaggerate je ni... ;-) ;-) ehh...but it's true..we were a bit stressful)...feeling really exhausted after the trip, we had a great time though. Me...am a bit run down still...

Well...just forget about that bit....here we are at the Al Hambra UNESCO World Heritage Site; also the main attraction in Granada and one of the famous in the world. The pics below were taken at The Alcazaba, the fortress area of the Alhambra....only one part of the huge area of this palace.

such a long queue...we queued for almost 3hrs...tu la...procrastination nye pasal (one of my bad habits)...actually my cousin syahmi from Durham who was there last feb http://syahmi76.fotopages.com warned me to book the tickets online...tangguh nye pasal langsung melopeh... :P Before departure, i did try to book online from my other cousin's house in Notts (lepak kat sini sebelum balik York) but failed...all online tickets were fully booked till 7th of May. So anyone fancy going to Alhambra...do book yr tickets online...i've learned my lesson now... ;-) ;-)

Plaza de los Aljibes - (biasa la Rizqin ni....not really camera friendly

"We've Got Guests"

My cousin, abg Anis and his wife, kak Marina from Hull ( with them was Ani; kak marina's niece from Mancester) came to our house last saturday. Their initial plan coming here was to do some shopping at York MacArthur Glen Designer Outlet (DO) prior to their two weeks vacation in Msia...they are flying back next week. Definitely wanna find something for relatives & friends...bukan selalu jumpe pun...dorg balik pun kejap2 je as they are working here and PRs too.

Honestly, many msians love coming to DO (or other factory outlets) as it offers loads of reduced and bargain items similar to those found in many high street shops with ordinary RRP.(recommended retail price)... :-D If u were to compare those in msia...they're worth buying here...cheaper...believe me..esp things from Clarks, Timberland, M & S etc... don't ever think of window shopping.... ;-) mesti tergoda nye... ;-) u'll end up buying at least one item...trust me... ;-) :-D You'll see the words 'Guilt free shopping' everywhere here and it seems true...hehehe...

We often come here esp during winter as all shops are in one massive building - kinda indoor 'winter activity' le ni...moreover, it is quite near our house...and there's this Thorntons cafe that sells ice cream my kids can't resist...well....another reason not to 'stay away from' it...don't you think??

At DO entrance. This pic was taken back in July last year when my eldest sister came to attend her son's convo

kak marina and me (last year's pic too)

Some pics of Hull City Centre

Farewell BBQ at York Rowntree Park

We had a bbq farewell at Rowntree Park; organized for those who are going home this year. Yes, it's a bit early to have it now but no choice it seems as many are so busy with other matters if it's delayed. Furthermore, one of our friends is leaving soon. As usual, the weather is everyone's concerned....said to be some rain. Alhamdullilah, it turned out to be good with some sunshine but chilly :-( We had fun indeed esp the kids. Rizqin & Ilyas definitely wanna come back.
